Tourism is a huge industry in Cancun. You’ll find the Nichupte Lagoon on the opposite side of the island of Cancun, away from the Caribbean Sea. This is one of the numerous tourist areas, which is specifically used for jet skiing, boating trips and other similar water sports and activities.
The main hotel area, however, actually juts into the Caribbean Sea and is almost entirely surrounded by the sea.
As a tourist, you’ll be able to gain access to a number of archaeological sites, including the Riviera Maya and the Tucatan interior. In these areas, you’ll find the Chichen Itza, the Tulum and the Coba. Cenotes like the Ik Kil and Dos Ojos can also be found.
There is an incredible underwater art museum here as well, which is perhaps one of the most interesting places to visit during your stay. It was created by Jason deCaires Taylor, a famous sculptor from England.
